Christmas Eve at Rosalie Bay

Since we stayed here on the island for the semester break instead of going back to the States to visit family, we wanted to do something special for Christmas, so we rented a car with another family in the branch and drove to the other side of the island to stay at Rosalie Bay Resort for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

We crammed our stuff and all eight of us (4 adults, 4 kids) in a little 5 seater and drove an hour to the capital city, Roseau, where we stopped to get some food for the next two days. It was crazy there. We hit two stores to find what we needed (didn't really find everything we needed--I don't think anyone here knows what swim diapers are), ate at KFC, and got back on the road. After another hour or so of driving on bumpy, windy roads we made it to the hotel/resort on the Atlantic side of the island.

After a long drive it was so nice to finally check into
our room and relax in the clean, air-conditioned room.
Even though it was raining, we got in the pool and also walked down to the beach to experience the Atlantic Ocean.

Our Christmas Eve family picture.

Our little Moses. Also, notice how
deep the footprints are in the sand.
It was weird.

The rough waves of the Atlantic. Quite a contrast
to the smooth peaceful Caribbean Sea we are used to.

After getting rained on at the beach, even though it really wasn't cold, we headed back to our room to get cleaned up before dinner. The shower was amazing (hot water, nice flow--neither of which we have back at our apartment) and neither Jason nor I wanted to get ever get out, but we eventually got everyone cleaned up and made it to dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was delicious food, but took FOREVER. I think our entire dining process for this dinner and Christmas dinner was longer than two hours each time. Not terrible unless you have a cranky toddler and a hungry and tired baby to deal with. We made it through dinner though and quickly got the kids to bed and we fell asleep right afterwards. Probably the last Christmas in many years where we will have a quiet evening and be able to get to bed early.

William enjoyed the Christmas tree.
We didn't have one at our apartment,
so I'm glad he got to see one at least.
